Hi all, welcome to Week 49! Liz shares on how experiencing God's love helps us to love ourselves in turn. I am grateful to Liz for her beautiful reflection that shows how God's love reaches into our inner selves and helps reveal how treasured we are. It is both encouraging and relatable!
In Liz's words...
I read the other day that God loves us so we can love ourselves. This has something that has taken me 74 years to learn but I feel so grateful to God that I am at last beginning to realise this!
There is a wonderful verse in Malachi 3 v17 “You are loved, special and God’s treasured possession.” I have struggled with self esteem and confidence for much of my life although outwardly I appear quite a capable and outgoing person. Life is relationships and when I am with people I get a real buzz. I would describe myself as a “human doing’ rather than a ‘human being’.
However, I find my own company hard.
I am at present in the middle of attending a Mindfulness course which I am not finding easy but I am persevering with. When I give myself time to do the meditations I find those negative thoughts begin to go and I am given peace. I can begin to see God’s love. I find being thankful to God for the small things in life as well as the big things a very affirming thing to do.
God has made me as I am and as a past Archbishop said, “God leaves no identical fingerprints.” Thank you Lord for making me and loving me!

Encouraging words! Great reminder to be grateful for the little things too. Glad you are finding peace within the meditation.
What a beautiful verse that is. I can really relate to what you said. It's hard to believe we are enough without doing anything... work in progress!
