Hi all, here we are with Week 44! Micah shares with us about his journey as an artist, his "path of faith", and how God often only reveals the next step one at a time. I am sure this is something that will resonate with a lot of us!
In Micah's words...

I think over the years I have thrown away, scrunched up, scribbled out nearly a thousand drawings and paintings. But that is not what people see. People only see what I share, which is the small amount I choose to share.
For the last 6 months I have been building an online course in teaching portrait drawing. Learning the craft of drawing and painting has been my focus and passion for the past 8 years. But it hasn’t been easy and there have been so many ups and downs.
As I come to finish the course, one quote I think about often is that “you can only connect the dots looking back”. Finishing this course doesn’t just feel like I am publishing 6 months of work, but really 8 years. It is amazing to reflect on how everything has tied together so beautifully and in a way I could never have designed. There were so many moments where what I was doing made no sense. Like I was walking through a Jungle but could only see the next step and nothing else.

But through each of those steps, hundreds of failed drawings but also lots of breakthroughs, God was slowly leading me to this point and to put it all into this course. It is so humbling and reassuring to look back and see how he was with me in all those moments, culminating in something that isn’t just for me, but that can help and encourage others too.
It makes me want to encourage others to just take that next step. Often the path of faith is a candlelit one - just enough light to see the next step. I think this is a gift as we have to lean on Him, which strengthens our faith and trust in him. For me discerning the next step comes through prayer and following where I feel life, passion and inspiration.
Micah uses drawing and painting as a way to explore the world and express his experiences. He hopes his work can capture where he finds beauty, truth, and life in a way that connects, inspires, and encourages people.
His main mediums are oil painting and charcoal drawing. Micah applies the classical techniques he learned while studying the Old Masters in Florence to create each piece. Currently based in Oxford, he has a gallery and studio there called "Jungle," which he co-runs with a local charity to organise events and workshops for the surrounding community.
