WEEK 37: EVERY DAY

Hi all! Here we are with Week 37. Cathy shares with us about how a trip to Ireland reminded her that God is at the heart of every moment of every day. I love how travel can show us that it is the same God in all different places.

Also, today has been a very exciting day; I submitted my last modules for my Diploma. I have enjoyed my studies but I am excited to see what comes next. Please do pray for these next steps!

In Cathy's words...

A woman (Cathy) on a beach

I have recently had a wonderful holiday in Ireland. For me it’s going home! I am Irish (brought up in England) and used to spend the long summer holidays with my grandparents in Westport, Co. Mayo.

I visited my beloved mountains, lakes, beaches and places of pilgrimage. I was reminded of John O’Donohues blessing that says...

“Old places that you know so well

Will pretend nothing

Changed since your last visit”.

And neither had it!!!

Ireland is the only place I know where you can go into a shop, chat for ages and receive a blessing with your change! God is just such a part of everyday life. A blessing ever ready on peoples lips. Thanks always given. It is not done in a trivial, habitual way. It is just done, God in every aspect of every day.

So, along with lovely memories of a fabulous, restorative (wet!) holiday I have vowed anew to acknowledge that God is at the heart of every moment of every day. The good, the bad, the indifferent and ordinary days. As well, of course, in high days and Holy! God should be ordinary too.

Cathy grew up in a small village in Essex where her father was Parish Priest. She spent long summers in Ireland. She works with children and have done for decades!
